2010 - 2011 CATCH provides a comprehensive training curriculum in clinical hypnosis for health practitioners approved by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). Students completing our program are eligible for certification by ASCH. We offer a full training program beginning every fall. This includes an Introductory class in Clinical Hypnosis, a class in Intermediate Hypnosis, and a series of Advanced Consultation groups where a variety of relevant clinical topics will be addressed. Below you will find a description of our complete curriculum and the cost of each of our classes. Introductory Course in Hypnosis (20 hours) This course is required for Certification by ASCH. The focus will be on the theory of hypnosis and hypnotic phenomena. Students will learn and practice basic hypnotic techniques, and will develop an understanding of basic hypnotic styles, including the use of Permissive and Ericksonian approaches. Click here for registration form Spring Introductory Course schedule to be announced Intermediate Course in Hypnosis (20 hours) The focus will be on clinical applications of hypnosis and on the learning of advanced hypnotic theory and techniques. Topics will include exploratory techniques, the use of various types of suggestion and ego state work. Treatment applications will include work with anxiety and panic disorders, depression, habit control, and hypnotherapy with children. Click here for registration form Spring Intermediate Course schedule to be announced Advanced Consultation Groups CATCH offers the required ASCH Approved Consultation in hypnosis in both individual and group format. In both formats students will have the opportunity to focus on the integration of hypnosis into their practice. Individual Consultation is by arrangement through CATCH. Consultation Groups focus on the students’ practical concerns regarding application of course material to clinical work. There are two types of consultation groups:
Consultation groups are open to all health professionals who have completed an ASCH Approved Introductory Hypnosis Course.
CONSULTATION SCHEDULE Hypnosis and Pain Management – 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Click here for registration form ALL DAY WORKSHOP Footprintings, a dynamic new treatment, provides effective, easy to use tools for observing and experiencing Self States and repairing relational issues between them. Using color footprints to diagram relationships between Parts, participants can step into different Self States, gaining deeper connection to the body experience, affect and cognitive orientation of each State, while healing internal relationships. An introduction to Footprintings will be followed by a demo, case presentation and practicum. Click here for registration form Hypnosis Strategies for Enhancing Optimism and Happiness 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM The emerging field of Positive Psychology focuses on enhancement of positive emotions and traits, and establishing meaning in life, rather than on symptom alleviation. We will discuss hypnotic applications of Positive Psychology that will enable us to be even more effective in achieving "authentic" happiness. Click here for registration form Hypnosis Approach to Working with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Hypnotic theory is a valuable tool in helping us understand the phenomena of PTSD. In this workshop we will look at PTSD through a hypnotic perspective, explore models of trauma, and learn hypnotic techniques for careful, safe, and effective treatment. Click here for registration form Hypnosis and Affect Regulation 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Hypnosis is ideally suited to modifying affect. We will address how to amplify positive affect, and how to manage affect dysregulation and difficult affects, such as anxiety, panic, and anger. Both traditional protocols and contemporary approaches to treating overreactivity will be included. Click here for registration form Ericksonian Hypnosis and Neuroplasticity 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Milton Erickson's teachings reflect his intuitive understanding of what has now been validated by current brain research. We will review Ericksonian concepts such as Pattern Interruption, emphasis on curiosity, wonder, surprise, and language utilization, and their relevance to neuroplasticity and hypnotherapy. Click here for registration form Pediatric Hypnosis in Office and Hospital Settings 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM This multimedia workshop will present applications of pediatric hypnosis in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinical vignettes of children coping with performance anxiety, sleep difficulty, post-concussion syndrome, palliative and end-of-life care, and more will be offered. |
